Rather than a 4x5 digital back where alignment is always approximate, the Jumboscan camera's optical and image planes are always in perfet alignment.

Jumboscan has been built so the CCD, lens and object capture surface can be
calibrated so these surfaces are in perfect parallel alignment. Formerly, only enlargment photographic bench
(photogravure) optics could meet this specification.
